MODEL VILLAGE- KADUKI

JAN SEWA KENDRAI. Community Water Centre (CWC)
A proposal to set up a Community Water Centre in Kaduki village, situated adjacent to Vijay Mandir in Alwar District of Rajasthan, was prepared to provide potable drinking water for a population of approx. 1,000 (250 families), including children. A majority of the population is poor and cultivation is the main source of their livelihood. A survey was conducted by My Anchor Foundation (a non-governmental organisation) in Kaduki regarding the accessibility of potable drinking water. It was have found that there was no access to potable drinking water in the village. There is general scarcity of potable drinking water and the villagers have to be dependent on families that have their own borewells for domestic use. Even this water is not suitable for drinking as the total dissolved solids count in it is as high as 250 (permissible limit is 100).

The Community Water Centre is a community based water distribution system wherein ground water/ surface water or supply water is treated by reverse osmosis technology or through filtration system to make it safe for drinking. This unique endeavor will create a better and healthier environment for the poor with the objective of improved health, lower medical expenses and community involvement to sustain the initiative. The total project cost was Rs 11 lakhs and it was inaugurated on 3rd July, 2015. This Project was sponsored by Desiccant Rotors Pvt. Ltd.
