NGO SAPNA,  extends support to poor and indigent patients who come from far-flung areas seeking treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.They stay in the  Hospital Dharamshala. A team of social workers provide informational support and facilitation to patients who do not know how to access the available services, right from the point of registration to an interface with the consultant in the required super-specialty. Medicines not available in the hospital and nutrition (milk, fruit, lunch, dinner and dry rations) are provided to patients free of cost.NGO SAPNA also bears the cost of operations of very poor patients and provides supportive orthopaedic aids like crutches, wheelchairs, collars, etc. Blood required mostly by burn patients or by those undergoing an operation is provided on demand. In addition, bed sheets and blankets are also provided.
