Access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation is an important human right with profound effect on the health and wellbeing of the community. Millions of children under five die annually from diarrhoeal diseases due to poor hygiene and sanitation and unsafe drinking water.
Access to safe drinking water and sanitation are the major planks of SAPNA’s village-based initiatives. The organization installed an industrial Reverse Osmosis plant in one of our core project areas- the Kaduki village, five years ago. Bottled water is now delivered to every house at a nominal cost of ₹ 200 per month. In addition to Kaduki, residents of neighbouring villages like Dehra, Tedpur, Nangli, Munsi and Dilalpur are also getting access to potable water. Last year a pick-up van was sourced to ease transport-related bottlenecks.
