On October 9, 2021 a 70-year-old patient named Arjun Prasad was admitted to the trauma center in New Delhi by the police. Arjun had severe injuries on his legs and was in a serious condition. It seemed like he was nearing the end of his life and his mental state was unstable. He couldn’t provide any information about his home. He stayed in the hospital for a few days and received treatment for his physical injuries as well as mental health care. He was discharged on October 27, 2021, and sent to the Anandam Vijay Mandir in Alwar.
He received regular care there, which helped improve his physical condition, but he still had mental health issues. He stayed there for about one and a half years, and then he was sent to Anandam Dadikar in Alwar. He stayed there for about a month, during which his mental health improved, but suddenly his condition worsened. He was then taken to the ESI Hospital in Alwar, where he showed signs of improvement. After that, he was brought back to Anandam Vijay Mandir, where his physical and mental condition improved.
Then, Ramesh, a caretaker at Sapna, started asking Arjun about his name, address, and family members. It seemed like Arjun was gradually remembering things. He provided information about his home, mentioning that it was located in Brahmpura, Hillsa Post, Nalanda district, Bihar. The coordinator contacted the Bihar Police and sent them a photo on WhatsApp. After seeing the photo, the SHO of Hillsa Police Station sent Constable Shivshankar to Brahmpura village to find Arjun’s home address and obtain information about his family members. According to the police, Arjun’s family had considered him dead, so they closed his file. His eldest son, who lives in Nalanda, Bihar, was contacted by the police. He said he would come to pick up his father the next day.
The next day, Arjun’s youngest son, Rakesh Kumar, who lives in Delhi and is 43 years old, came to pick up his father from Anandam Vijay Mandir. He shared the story of his father’s disappearance. He mentioned that his mother had passed away 10 years ago, after which his father’s mental health started deteriorating. That’s why he brought him to Delhi for his care. Rakesh Kumar works as a wall putty worker. His father had leg injuries, so he was undergoing treatment for his legs and mental health. His father had gone missing twice before, but they were able to find him because he had a personal phone. Later, his father lost his phone, so he started keeping a note with all his information in his pocket, which helped him find his way home if he got lost.
On September 2, 2021, Rakesh Kumar went out for work, wearing a different shirt than the one with the note. When his father didn’t return home by 8 pm, Rakesh started searching for him. He thought his father might have gone out, but when he didn’t come back, he began searching for him. He called his brothers in Bihar and rented a vehicle to search for his father. He registered a complaint about his father Arjun’s disappearance at the Kapashera Police Station in South West Delhi. He put up posters in different places and shared the information in WhatsApp groups to find his missing father. Rakesh Kumar took a leave of around 15 days to search for his father, but he couldn’t find him. Rakesh would see his father in his dreams, giving him hope that he would eventually find him. Then, on May 30, 2023, Rakesh received a call from his brother in the evening, informing him that their father was at the NGO Sapna in Alwar. Rakesh immediately went to Sapna the next day, May 31, to bring his father back. The joy of meeting his father again was evident in Rakesh’s eyes. After some paperwork, Arjun was sent with his son Rakesh Kumar. We hope that Arjun stays happy with his family and has a long life.
