Support a Kidney Patient
Another initiative taken by SAPNA has been to support very poor patients suffering from
kidney ailments or having undergone a kidney transplant surgery. A large number of poor patients from far-flung areas of the country, especially Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, suffering from kidney ailments come to AIIMS and stay at Rajgarhea Vishram Sadan. The treatment is frightfully expensive and has to be sustained for long periods. Ultimately, most patients are financially devastated and give up their treatment, unable to bear the expenses, and resign themselves to fate. SAPNA supports such poor patients by providing medicines and dialysis free of cost on a sustained basis every month. Severe fund constraint have prevented us from covering several other patients requiring medicines and dialysis. SAPNA provides medicines worth approx Rs. 5000 – 10000 each month to these patients.

NGO SAPNA’ was registered in Delhi under the Societies Registration Act on 21st October, 2004. It was founded by a group of professionals who shared a dream to work on a people-centric model of development in areas of health, education, gender, community development and social welfare. Inspired by Gandhian ideals of ‘Sewa’ i.e. selfless service, SAPNA’s mission is to work/act as an ‘agent of change’ to support and empower the poor and the marginalized.
